Cattleya Orchid — Smoky Green

This artificial Cattleya orchid comes in Smoky Green. Three blooms sit along the main stem in an asymmetrical triangular arrangement. The lowest bloom is the largest and most open. Two smaller blooms sit higher and turn outward in different directions, so the flower faces can be seen from both the front and side.

Broad petals open around a marked throat. Fine veining runs across the petals, and the rims are finely rippled. The outer segments combine smoky green, olive and yellowish green, crossed with fine ink coloured lines. The lip carries plum and yellowish green with dark flecks.

Three upright olive buds sit at the tip above the open flowers. The foliage is kept minimal, leaving the flower pattern, veining and rippled edges easy to see.

Design notes

Limestone pottery suits the mineral tones through the smoky green petals. Matte bronze adds a warmer material beside the muted greens. Dark moss glass continues the green palette and gives the paler cream sections a deeper background.

For a neutral palette, combine Smoky Green with putty, taupe or clay. Olive, moss and laurel continue the green colour range. Merlot, aubergine and indigo provide a stronger contrast.

Roses add volume around the orchid. Eucalyptus introduces cooler foliage and more space between the blooms. Cymbidium adds cupped flower shapes, while sage continues the muted green palette.
