Eryngium Tristar — Storm Slate

This artificial Eryngium comes in Storm Slate. Three compact flower heads branch from the upper stem. Fine blue points form the centre of each head. Narrow green bracts spread outward from the base, with some curving away from the flower. Divided leaves continue the this outline lower down the stem.

For a single stem, use a narrow neck vase and turn the flower heads in different directions. When using several stems, place the heads at different heights through the upper and outer parts of the arrangement, and leave the bracts free to cross the edge of the arrangement, where their pointed shapes can break up paired broader flowers.

Design notes:

A clear blown glass vase around 35 to 45 cm high shows the full stem, divided leaves and branching flower heads. This height suits an entry console or window ledge.

A matte onyx stoneware vase around 28 to 35 cm high places the Storm Slate heads against a dark surface and brings the three heads closer to the rim. This works well on a dining table or bar counter.

Pair Storm Slate with stone grey, chalk white or brushed steel for a cool neutral palette. Eucalyptus, moss and olive continue the green found in the bracts and leaves. Oxblood and royal purple introduce richer colour beside the slate heads, while midnight navy continues the deeper blue range.

Phalaenopsis orchids place broad open petals beside the compact Eryngium heads. King Protea can sit lower as the main focal flower, with Eryngium extending through the upper and outer sections. Gerberas introduce flatter round flower heads between the larger focal flower and the smaller Eryngium forms.
