Symphyotrichum lateriflorum — Verdant White-Green

This artificial Symphyotrichum lateriflorum comes in Verdant White Green. Fine branching stems carry small white daisy flowers, green buds and small leaves. Warm golden centres sit within the open flowers.

The branches contain internal wire and can be shaped by hand. Bend them outward to spread the flowers across a wider area, or bring them closer together for a narrower, fuller form. The direction of individual branches can also be adjusted to suit the arrangement.

One stem carries the small flowers and buds across a broad branching shape. Group several stems for a looser arrangement with more flowers through the design. Six or more stems can be placed in a pot to create the appearance of a small flowering tree for a spring display.

Design notes:

A slim clear crystal vase around 40 to 50 cm high keeps the branching stems visible. Chalk matte stoneware around 30 cm high gives the wide branches a firmer base. A tall smoked glass vessel provides a darker background and makes the outline of the branches easier to see.

For a neutral palette, combine Verdant White Green with linen, warm sand or soft biscuit. Mint, pistachio and moss continue the green colour range. Mulberry, cobalt and terracotta provide a stronger contrast beside the white flowers and green foliage.

Gerberas repeat the daisy flower shape at a larger scale. Hydrangea adds volume around the base of the branches. Peonies introduce larger rounded blooms, while poppies add curved stems and a less regular flower shape.
