Gladiolus — Mandarin Orange

This artificial gladiolus comes in Mandarin Orange. Open florets sit at intervals along the upright stem. The lower flowers are more open, while the upper section becomes gradually tighter. The petal colour shifts from yellow to orange in a smooth transition. They have a texture close to fresh petals, with fine detail across each floret.

For a single stem, use a tall vase with a narrow opening. Keep the lowest open flower just above the rim and leave the stem straight to maintain a clear vertical line.

When using two stems, set them at different heights and turn the flower faces in separate directions. This creates an open pair without placing both flower spikes on the same line.

For a larger arrangement, place several stems through the centre and back. Vary their height so the buds continue above the main flowers, while the open florets carry Mandarin Orange through the middle of the arrangement.

Design notes:

A matte alabaster ceramic vase gives the orange flowers a pale background. Ribbed clear glass shows the upright stems through the vessel. Burnished copper continues the warmth of Mandarin Orange.

Pair Mandarin Orange with chalk white or linen for a lighter palette. Cobalt and navy introduce a cooler contrast. Plum and fig continue a deeper warm colour range.

English roses in buttermilk or apricot can sit lower around the gladiolus and widen the centre of the arrangement. Coral or tangerine gerberas repeat the orange in broader round flower heads. Scarlet gloriosa lilies can extend between the upright spikes with curved petals.
