Carnation — Pale Green

This artificial carnation comes in Pale Green, a light green with a creamy white undertone. Broad petals overlap in loose ruffles, with finely notched edges and inner folds that rise around the centre. The outer petals spread outwards into an uneven rounded outline. The petals feel soft and moist to the touch. Narrow pointed leaves extend from the dark green stem, with small twists along their length.

For one stem, use a vase with a narrow opening and keep the flower clear of the rim. Leave some stem and the upper leaves on show beneath the ruffled head.

When grouping several stems, let a few heads sit lower around the outside. Keep enough space between the blooms for the fringed edges to remain distinct.

Design notes

Ivory porcelain provides a smooth surface beneath the ruffled petals. Smoked plum glass puts a deeper colour below the pale green. A sandstone vessel adds a warmer stone texture beside the flower.

Pair Pale Green with ivory, cream or pale stone. Sage, celadon and olive continue the green colour range. Dusty pink and lilac suit a pale floral palette, while plum provides a deeper contrast.

Place Ivory Lime anthuriums just above the carnations and thread Cloud White poppy sprays between them, letting their open flowers and buds sit beyond the ruffled heads. For a pink and lilac arrangement, place Tender Pink gerberas beside the carnations and position Lavender Haze delphiniums at the back. The gerberas' green centres pick up the carnation colour beneath the taller lilac flowers.
