Iris — Indigo Purple

This artificial iris comes in Indigo Purple. The open bloom is deep indigo purple, with a pale butter yellow wash at the base of the outer petals near the throat.Each stem carries one open flower and one closed side bud. The outer petals sweep outward, while the inner petals stand upright. Long sword shaped leaves wrap the lower stem.

For a single stem, use a tall vase with a narrow opening. Keep the bloom above the rim and turn the side bud to one side so the open flower and closed form sit on different lines. The slim stem and upright leaves bring height without filling the space around the vase.

When using several stems, vary their height and direct the open blooms towards different angles. Place the deeper purple flowers through the centre and back, with the buds extending above and around them.

Design notes

A midnight glass column continues the deep indigo tone. An antique brass vessel introduces warm metal near the flower centre. A raw granite vase places the purple bloom above a mineral surface.

Pair Indigo Purple with ash, slate or smoke. Navy, cobalt and steel continue the blue and purple range. Saffron, linen and leaf green provide stronger contrast.

Roses introduce broader rounded blooms beneath the iris. Hydrangea can increase volume through the lower section. Calla lilies add curved lines, while gladiolus carries the arrangement upward with longer flower spikes.
