Anthurium — Burgundy Cherry

This artificial anthurium comes in Burgundy Cherry, a deep wine red. The raised areas catch the light, while the deepest folds appear almost black. A dark central spike sits against a broad heart shaped face with a pointed tip and pronounced curved veins. The green stem has no leaves beneath the bloom. The flower head is soft and returns to its original shape after a light press or squeeze.

For a single stem, choose a vase with a narrow opening and leave some of the green stem above the rim. The stem can be bent and shaped to adjust the position of the bloom. Curve it to one side and turn the flower face towards the room.

When grouping several stems, vary the curves and heights so the flower heads sit apart. In a mixed arrangement, position the anthurium just above a fuller base of flowers, with its face clear of surrounding petals.

Design notes

A pale stone coloured vase contrasts with the dark flower head. Smoked glass is an option when the rest of the arrangement also uses deeper colours.

Cream and stone grey contrast with the dark burgundy. Plum and oxblood keep the flowers within a dark red and purple range. Add a brighter yellow green for a stronger contrast against the burgundy.

Fresh Mint Leucospermum brings a lighter textured crown below the dark anthurium. Rodriguezia lanceolata in Olive Green can reach above it with smaller striped flowers. Steel Grass extends the arrangement with long arcs around the broader flower heads.
